why is it on newgrounds (and other places) do they write the date in month/day/year format and not the more logical day/month/year format?

for example: 03/05/2022

is it the 3rd of May or the 5th of March?

It ends up requiring unnecessary effort to work out what the date is supposed to be and it's a little annoying because i like knowing when stuff was published.
