I was listening to the NGP about flash 2 days ago and felt inspired to pick up coding...
again
I have been doing coding since I was 7 making crap and junk on Scratch, but I have tried some other code based ones (and dropped them pretty quickly afterwards.) I have noticed a reoccurring pattern: have waaaaaay too much determination, get annoyed because i can't get the character to walk, ask reddit for help and drop it 1 month later after just mastering the technique of walking (my story with pygame in a nutshell).
But not too long ago I got the free version of Game Maker Studio 2 (mainly because RPG maker costs money, and because Undertale was coded with that) and have been looking at many tutorials figuring out what the heck i did wrong. I'm doing a dialog test where you click a button and text appears which has been shown to be much more difficult than it looks (even in the drag and drop format) maybe spending all that time on scratch wasn't the best idea as broadcasts work waaaaaayyy differently here.
I have just posted my first question on r/gamemaker, i'm hoping the universe likes me today.
--------------------------
I have had this plot idea technically since late September 2020, where i was watching this tiktok complation and there was this girl with goggles and purple cat ears, which i thought looked cool. So i did a random doodle in my notebook of a character with googles which lead to a drawing on instagram of 4 robots from diffrent time periods if you're curious, the post is here. Also around that time i made some random gacha character on my phone as satire to the typical edgy emo wolf boy you see in literally every GLMM out there. I redrew this character and posted it on my old internet friend's amino chat thing idk (i tried searching but it seems like all my posts got deleted to time...)
Because I love lore, I started to make a storyline off these characters. Buuuut it wasn't really forming and none of the characters had names + most had no designs so i scrapped the idea. The only thing i really came up with was this skit with a fire extinguisher and the final episode battle fight whatever.
3 Months later, I picked the skit idea back up and made it into a pilot episode on youtube again, the link is here, it is pretty cringy tho. The main characters had names at this point but not much personality or backstory. A bit was tweaked here but not really. Some other gacha characters were made for fun aswell which got implemented in some way, shape, or form.
One of the main human characters, Alcelanda (previously mentioned in the paragraph about amino), was getting a bunch of dark and morbid story added to match his kinda edgy look. In may or something I made an animation meme which vaguely resembles this (your'e not getting the link this time, just go search 'witchtrip meme' on my second account).
But then a revelation:
I was playing DDLC and was getting kinda bored constantly clicking through text and thought to myself: what if this was a webtoon/show? I mean it would wreck the whole 4th wall vibe, and the 2 paths would have to be separate episodes. I then thought: what if i made a show that looked liked a video game, like a silent playthrough you would see on youtube? And boom; development.
This was where all the unnecessary lore and random details were added (it also got really morbid at some points here) the idea being each season being a diffrent version of the game; there was 2 paths: the greater ending and the lesser ending. The first 3 seasons would focus on the Greater ending because it was longer while the last season was on the lesser ending. I then realised this was too complicated and wanted to turn it into an actual game.
In some ways this works. The 'secrets' would be actual secrets, the battles could be played, it would have been a better idea overall. Problem being is, I can't code. Some things had to be cut off just so I would be able to keep my sanity in the future. Probably for the best; the unnecessary character switching would be too confusing anyway. I dout it would be uploaded to newgrounds because idk how the saving would work and also it would probably be too big.
-------------------------
So what even is this anyway?
It's a game called 'Sci-Fi RaiRoboska', a choiced based RPG i haven't created yet, but I'm so determined i'll at least have the alpha version out before i die. Unlike most RPG games out there which are in a fantasy setting, it's set in an urban setting where 5 years ago: 4 robots rebelled and destroyed part of a factory that made AI and androids (not the phone kind) but got stopped just after and were thrown into a stationary wardrobe. The company shut down after that, nobody wanted to buy the land or bulldoze it due to fear of the urban legend of the psychopathic robots genocide.
But some idiot called Calibri bought it because of a dare, and found the robots. Their hardrives had been mostly wiped so they were quite safe. Calibri also does some restoration of the place while the 4 roboska robots mess some stuff as they try to act more human like in fear they will get scrapped. You can treat then very nicely or very harshly, depending on what outcome you want.
- Model-6-3-Riley: A disco Hi-Fi from when Club music was popular in the 90's
- CircuitC9: Based of early cheap smartphones, designed as a basic voice assistant
- SK6Blue: A hologram prototype designed to get info from the internet (and also has a camera eye)
- KCS59: A steampunk robot housemaid from the late victorian era / edwardian era
There's also the alleyway teens, a friend group that hang out in an alleyway and sometimes break into the factory. They don't really do much exept battle over crayons at one point.
- Alcelanda: edgy emo boy that dosen't like talking and is as fragile as a glass (he could also probably kill you)
- Sadie: Alcelanda's best friend. A weeb who likes graffiting obscure anime onto the walls and being too determined for her own good
- AD: literally only exists for random one liners and constantly calling Alcelanda short
- Lance: A pacifist who keeps unintentionally ruining jokes and constantly chews gum like it's weed (it's not weed)
It's sorta split into 'save files' which act like episodes.
You get the basic plot

Sounds really cool. Good luck!
