Probably the biggest dilemma and the cause of many problems both domestically and globally.
First of all forget about every single thing you know about society today because in the next generation or so, you'd be considered by that interpretation of society's standards as wrong, different, radical and evil. Even if you did or said nothing to warrant it. It's a bitch, but times change and people try to cash in on it by making everyone adhere to it.
Second of all regarding the conundrum between "Be yourself." And "Blend in." Forget everythimg you know about anti-conformist views. It's a croc and it's grossly hypocritical. South Park even pointed it out by having the Goth Kids say "To be a non-conformist, you have to dress and act exactly like us." Even before them Charlie Chaplin pointed it out too "Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people."
Anyone that comes with you claiming to be non-conformist and individual, is full of shit because their attempt at "freeing" you, is really a means of recruiting, indoctorning and even possibly taking advantage of you financially as well as sexually. Cults, Hate Groups and Dictatorships were created because the leads often give promises that seem too good not to be true.
If you really want to be yourself, you have to be commited to that to the letter and only choose to hang out with those that genuinely love and respect you even if their viewpoint is different. If you want to blend in, wear a suit and be prepared to kiss ass and sacrifice your freedom and soul for the rest of your life.
