I guess those 2 people who didn't leave a written review (because those were quite positive) don't like visual novels ig.

I'm more annoyed that I tied with a flappy bird clone that's not even a game, it's a gif.

Hey, at least when people look back they'll notice it more than if it was right in the middle. And besides, the second I saw the mech game and the ball one, I knew I wasn't going to win.

I mean I'm a little annoyed at this as I worked hard on it, but I've come to the conclusion that I just suck at making games as I haven't made anything that goes past the 3.5 rating (art and audio doesn't count due to the smaller voting pool) and there isn't an algorithm here so it's clear I'm just bad.

They. Never. End. So many notifications because of the Wii collab that I joined because I was bored over a month ago! It jumpscared me when I first saw it as I completely forgot about it.

At least everyone who participated can reply to the reviews, which is always fun to do just to see how quickly it can turn to chaos.

In other news, college for me starts on Thursday (technically it starts tomorrow but it's some online thing) and I've been looking at the bagels that were bought for my packed lunch all week. I've never been to a public school before not counting nursery so this is going to go great. I suspect I'll be known as "that weird private school kid that wears ties with hoodies". I'm waiting for my timetable to come so I can see when I have lessons and when I can sit in the corner of my room and tap away at a keyboard. That's the cool thing about college, it's not like school or 6th form where you have to be in school from 8 'till 4. If you don't have lessons you can just leave. Annoyingly though I have to cross a roundabout just to get to my new bus stop because the council doesn't understand how good bus routes work.

Edit: I just looked through my old blog posts trying to find a specific post here and dear god I wish I could just delete them all but there's a part of me that refuses to let me do that for "preservation sake". Urghhhhhh the cringe! The ever-loving cringe! I used to use the nerwgrounds blog feature as a way to ramble on about whatever, which essentially is what my tumblr is now, but I wasn't 14 when I created my tumblr blog so that makes it instantly better.

I sorted though my playlists and updated them and created new ones and stuff because it's almost 2 in the morning and I know I'll waste tomorrow morning so might as well be productive now. I got rid of the "best music I've ever made" playlist because it was dated due to me not updating it and I didn't feel like sorting though it.

So yeah, I made all these:

The top one is a playlist with playlists in and 2 songs because it was annoying me how not every game had enough songs for an OST.

I know I should be sad that the song I was very proud of and put a lot of effort into got ranked so low in a competition that I spent months waiting for the results, but it's funnier to be second to last than somewhere in the middle. Looking at the top 4 and the last and third to last, I think the judges just don't like specific types of synths. I guess the world isn't ready for square waves playing with violas.

I saw the lowspec jam on the calendar on the homepage and after reading about it I was like: "sweet! another excuse to make a game!" There's always a lot of jams on on itch but there isn't as many on Newgrounds, especially on both as I've never seen a jam on both websites before and it's a month so I can manage my time better and not spend an entire week grinding like on the godot one because I always end up with too many ideas. No idea what I'm going to do though as I don't know the specs or the theme. I'll figure it out.

I spent way too fucking long on this

For some fricking reason, this dumb little fan remake I made for last years Pico Day to test out Godot 3 still keeps getting attention and people keep asking me to finish it (I didn't add the extra animations of the milk one that I wanted to do because of time limitations of the deadline) so fine: I'll remake the remake.

My art and animation skills have improved significantly since then and I want to test using the grease pencil in Blender (and I'm in the extra long summer holiday now so I have plenty of time), so I'll chuck it onto my "to do" list and complete it when I have the motivation to. I'll make it a separate game though as I'll essentially be remaking it from scratch in Godot 4 (ie the animations will actually play in the browser) and I don't feel comfortable throwing the original into the void.

There's a godot game jam on itch that's starting this saturday for a week so expect something high quality for once here.

In other news there's that deltarune collab that I hope i can get in as I love that game. There's also the fnaf animation collab that's in the summer holidays. I have an idea for a script but I haven't actually worked on it yet. Probably should though as the deadline's july 20th (2 months). There's also the brainrot collab that I'm going to take way too seriously and I've just realised i'm doing 3 animation collabs and a game project this year jesus.

Oh and I made my website not look like a vomit of CSS by using a HTML template and then screwing with it to the point where it's unrecognisable from the source:
